HomeMy WebLinkAbout73-152WfiEREAS, this Board has been made aware of the praposed reapportiorunent plan as it affects Butte Caunty representation in the Asse-nbly~ and WHE~2EAS, said plan unnecessarily splits the County of B~tte ni half, and WHEREAS, said plan places each hal~ of Butte County into two separate Assembly Distr~c~ts in which the respective h.al.ves o~ Butte County have little if any community of interest in the Assembly Districts in which they are to be placedy and WH~R~AS~ the proposed split of But~re Cou.nty wi~.l cause considerable expense to the taxpayers o£ ~the County in that it wo~ld result in a ma j or restructuri,ng of Coumty preci,ncts~ ax~d WHEREAS, the proposed split of But~ County creates a spli~ of 4 Supervisorial. -istricts and 6 school districts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of S~xpervisors of the County of Butte as follows: I. That the Speczal Masters on Reappo~tionment o~ tha Supreme Court be respectfully requested to change the boundary lines of Assemb],y Distrzcts 1 and 3 so that Bntte County wi1.1 be totally within an ,Assembly T7istrict. 2, That a certified copy of this resolu~ion be immediately sent ~ro ~he Supreme Court of the State of California and to its special Masters on reapportionment, to the Honorable Ronal.d Reagan, Governor of the State o£ California, the Honorable Fred Marler, 5tate Senator, and the Honorable Ray Johnson~ Assemblyman and to such other part'e~~ as this Board may direct.
