HomeMy WebLinkAbout74-104W~i~REAS, this Board finds that meetings of the County
Planning Commission an.d other county commissions, as well as special
night meetir~gs of tlze Board of ~upervisors, that extend beyon.d
11:00 p.m. create considerable hardship upon the public. Our
commissions are made up of individuals who k~ave pu~ in, a full-days
work, in their own vocations, an.d to ask these individuals who are
serving the people of the County of Butte to work beyond 11:00 p.m.
can only result in exhaustion of the members of our commissions,
in, that by even going to 11:00 p.m. most members of our commissions
~I1 be putting in a 16-hour daq. To the members ot the pv.blic
who have business before tnese ~ommissions, as well as our Board
during the specia~. night meetings, a meeting that is going to go
to 1:00 a.m. or 2:00 a.m. in the morning creates considerable
hardsha.p, and kxas the abvious ultimate result of discouragi~g the
desa.red public attendance and participation. The members of the
pub].ic wh.o must wait around until. midnight and hours atter~ards,
whi~h has been the unfortunate experience because of heavy agendas,
also have already put in a fu11-days worls„ and ~o ask them to be
available for discussion of the items in which they have an interest
at hours raz~,ging frvm 12 midnight to 2:00 a.m. in ~he morning is
certainly a disservice to those members of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ~T RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. No meeting o~ the Board ot S~.pervisors, Planning
Commission, or any other County Comtnission or advisory committee
shaZ1 be extended beyond 11:00 p.m.
