BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCE N0. f~t1~ .
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEEA LINIITS ON
CERTAIN ROADS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
(Vehicle Gode Section 22358).
The Board of Supervisors of the Chanty of Butte, State of California,
do ordain as follows:
Section l: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of
an engineering and traffic survey, the county highways hereinafter described
come within the provisions of Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State.
of California, in that a prima facie speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles per
hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said highways, and determines and
declares a prima facie speed limit on such county highways as fo1.l.ows:
Section 2: That a prima facie speed limit of forty-five (45) miles
per hour is hereby determined, declared and established upon the hereinafter
described county highways, to vrit:
{a,) On Oroville-Gridley Highway from State Highway 3, sign
route 99E to the westerly line of Kirk Road.
{b) On Bell Road from the easterly line of Muir Avenue to
the westerly line of 6ussick Avernze.
(c) On Guynn Avenue Prom the southerly line of Bell Road to
the northerly line of West Lindo Avenue.
(d) On Alamo Avenue between Bell Road and Cusick Avenue..
(e) On Cusick Avenue between Shasta Avenue and West Lindo
Avenue.
(f) On Nord Avenue from the southerly line of Bell. Road to
0.50 miles southerly.
Section 3: That SPEED LIMIT 45 MILES signs be placed at appropriate
locations on the roads described in Section 2.
Section 4: That a prima facie speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles
per hour is hereby determined, declared and established upon the hereinafter
described county highways, to wit:
(a) On Nord Avenue from 0.50 miles southerly of the southerly
line oY Bell Road to State Highway 47, sign route 32.
(b) On Rodeo Avenue from Nord Avenue to 0.50 miles
northwesterly.
(c) On Manzanita Avenue from Cactus Avenue to Centennial

(e) Chico Canyon Road from the westerly line of the Humboldt
Subdivision at the City Limits of Chico to Centennial Avenue, a distance of
approximately 0,90 miles.
(f) On Vallombrosa Avenue from Madrone Street to the westerly
line of Lot 11/~ of the Bidwell 20th Subdivision at the City Limits of the City
lof Chico.
(g) On Larkin Road from Center Avenue to the southerly line of
Lot 35 of the Gridley Colony No. i Subdivision.
Section 5: That SPEED LIMIT 35 MILES signs be placed at appropriate
locations on the roads described in Section 4.
Section 6: That a prima facie speed limit of thirty (30) miles per
hour is hereby determined, declared and established upon the hereinafter des-
cribed county highway, to wit:
(a) On Oroville-Gridley Highway from the westerly line of Kirk
Road to 0.90 miles easterly,
Section 7~ That SPEED LIMIT 30 MILES signs be placed at appropriate
locations on the road described in Section 6.
Section 8: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
Section 9: The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms
of this ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable, and the
invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provision, section, or term thereof
shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render the same inoperative
I or invalid,
Section 10: The Department of Public Works of the County of Butte is
hereby directed to erect appropriate signs giving notice of the prima facie
speed limits established herein, within thirty (30) days of the adoption hereof.
This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after its passage,
and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, it shall be
published with the names of the members voting for and against the same, once
in a local newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California.
