WI~REAS, paragraph 3 of Resolution No. 7~+-76 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
3. Expenses within countv. Any offi3cer or
employee who a~~ends a breakfast, lunch or dinner
meeta,ng witha.n the county where he is a participant
~.n the meeta.n,g or where it is important to the cownty ° s
benefit that he attend may be reimbursed for his meal
expense. Any officer or employee may be reimbursed for
his meal expense and the meal expense of another person
or persons who are guests on occasions when an invita-
tion to a meal is important to the interest of the county
or wh~n a meal is provided because of services to the
county.
Board of Sup~rvisor members, County officials and
tY~eir guest are constan~ly invi~ed to a~tend meetings, din-
ners, and banque~s of various public in~erest organizations.
These invitations are given to them as Board members and
County of#'icials, and not as persona3. invitations. These
meetings etc., give the Board and Gounty officials valuable
publi.c input on various areas of Cot~nty concern~ and it is
benefi.c~,al to the County that Board members and other County
officia~s have thi.s xnp~.t and opportunity to discuss County
issues with the public at these various functions. County
officials~ Board of Supervisor members and their guest are

construed as represe~ting the County of Butte at such

Al1 such expenses shall be submitt~d to the County
Administrative 0~'ficer for review and approval before
payment by .Auditor-Controller. Provided, however, that
the County shall not reimburse for expenses relating to
attendance at any function that serves partially or
completely as a political fund raiser, or any function
sponsor~d by a political party, or for the benefit of
any church or religious organization.
PTothing in this paragraph shall be construed as
authorizing the holding of staff breakfast, 7.unch or
dinner meetings by department heads.
