that in small claims actions that:
"No attorney at law ar other person than the p~aintiff
and defendant sha11 take any part in the filing o~ pzo-
secution or defense of such litigation in the s~all c~aims
court." and,
WIiEREAS, California Government Code §23004 confers upon. Che
County the capacity to sue and be sued, and
WHEREAS, the County is unabZe to appear except through a
natuYal person; and this Board desires ~o appoint proper representatives
to prosecute and defend 1ega1 actions in the su~alZ claims courts of
this County.
NOW, '~HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Butte as foll.ows:
l. That Resolution No. 74-143 be, and hereby is, repeaJ.ed.
2. That the following Butte County officers are appointed
to represent the Coun~y in the small claims courts of ~he County;
(a) Butte County Administx'at ive Officer
(b) Sutte County Sherif~
(c) Bv.tte County Treasurer/~ax Collector
(d) Butte County Director of Public Works
(e) Director of Butte Couz~.~y Department o£ Social
Welfare
3. That the above-mentioned officers may designate an
employee from within his department, whose duties give him peculia~
knowledge of the fac~s of the partzcular sma11 claims action, to
prosecute and defend such action on behal.f of the Coun~y.
