RESOLUTION REQUESTING MODIFICATION OF MEDICAL
PROGIZANI AS IT RELATES TO OBSTETRTCS
WHEJ.tEAS, pregn.ant women a.n Butte County are having da~ffi-
culty obtaining prenatal care and obstetrical services, and
WHEREAS, there is a shortage of physicians performing
these services in the Chico area, and
WHEREAS; The Butte County Medical and Dental Access
Project has verified these shortages and difficulty in accessabil-
ity of services, and
WHE1tEA.S, thi.s problem is complicated by many factors
including:
1. Inadequate, inequitable and delayed payment schedu~es
of the Medi-Cal program.
2. Excessive costs of inedical liability premiums for this
medical care.
3. The 20 years statute of limitation on the baby's
de 1 i.very .
4. Lack of ~ransportaeion for some citizens.
5. The high Ievel of physical demands on Che physician
providzng tni.s service.
NOW, THE1~~'ORE, be i~ resolved that the Butte Caunty Health
Services Agency be reques~ed to develop alternate proposals for
Butte Coun.ty participa~ion in the solution of this problem so that
the expecrant mothers of Bv.tte Gounty and theiz fetus will receive
high quali~y medical care.
