Creek has proven to be deficient i.n providing adequate protection to
adjoining lands, and
WI~~REAS, since the construction of this drainage structure
severe flood and erosion damage has resulted to the existi.ng levee
sys~em, to adjoining lands, and to Gounty roads located be].ow
Har~lin Slough, and
WHEREAS, landowners in the area and the Coun~y of Butte have
aCtempted for many years to have this deficiency corrected, and.
WHE1tEAS, the U. 5. Corps of Army Engineers, has proposed the
construction of backwater levees and channel enlargement to provide
a m.uch higher degree of protection than presently exists.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Butte County Board of Supervi.sors supports th2
back~rater levee and channel enJ.argement project on Hamlin Slough
proposed by the U. S. Corps of Army Engineers and would urge i~s
iuQnediate construction.
