WHEREAS, the SCate Ad Hoc Gommittee on Build~ng Securiti~ SCandards has adopted
proposed standards to be included in ~he main bodp of tihe Uniform Building Code; and
WHEREAS, the proposed standards wi11 apply to allapartment houses, hotels, and
dwellings in a11 portions of the State of California without regard to high cri.me
rate areas and low crime rate areas; and
WF~REAS, the increased costs o£ construction and en£orcement in low criune a~eas
and rural axeas would be needless; and
WHEftEAS, the proposed standards should be optionai ~ox iocai ~n£qrcement and
optional for the individuaZ property owners and sfiould therefoxe be placed ~~ the
appendix o~ the Unifoxm Buildzng Code;
NOW, THEREF'ORE, BE xT RESOLVEA thak the Boaxd o£ Supexvisars of the County of
Butte, State o~ Cali~ornia, do hereby oppose these standaxds and w~~l continue to
oppose them until they are made optional;
BE IT P`URTHER RESOLVED that copies o£ this resolution be sent to Governor Broam;
Assemblyman Gene Chappie; the State Housing Comsnittee; Robert ITall, Chairman of Ad
Hoc Co~ittee; and the Californfa Supervisors Association.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 17t1z
