Resolution No. 76-].84
WH~REAS, this Boa~d was grieved to learn of the death o~
WE]LTER EDWARD FERGUSON, Community Itesource Officer for ti~e Po].ice
Departmant of the City of Oroville; and .
WHEREAS, WALTER EDWARD FERGUSON has contributed much to
the quali~y of life in our county, particularly in his service with
the Orovi.lle Po7.ice bepartment since September 13, I9~5, and even
more recently in his position as Cou~unity Resource Officer ~or that
deparfiment since Aug~.st 9, 1971; and
WHEREAS, WALTER EDWARD FERGU54N developed anclimplemented
Butte County's £irst law enforcemen~ related pragram in the public
schoo].s; and
WI~REAS, he assisted other agencies in develoging simi.iar .
prograrns ; and
WH~~I~S, k~e cau~seJ.ed juveniles and adults and offered
alterr~atives to placement in the cri.zni.nal justice system; and
WHEREAS, he served as an academy crimznal jusCi.~e instructor;
and
WHEREAS, he contributed as a rnember of several::advisory
boards xel.ated to current social problems; and
WHEREAS, he untiringly gacre rnany presentations to interested
organz.zations; and,
WHEREAS, tidALTER EDWARD FERGUSON, affectionaCely known as
"Fergie" was always available to any juvenil.e or adul.t in need,
whether c~ay or night, and had the respect of his co-worlcers and the
en~ire community.

RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF WALTER EDWt1RD FERGUSON
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California as follows:
1. T~at this Board hereby memorializes its appreciation
of ~he meritorious services rendered to the City of Oroville and the
County of Butte by WA~TER EAWAR3~ ~~RGUSON.
2. That the condolences and heartfelt sympathy of this
Board be extended to the members of his family and ~hat the Clerk
of this Board forward certified copies of this resolution to each
of them.
3. That tihe regular meeting of this Board held on this
30th day of November, 1976, be ad3ourned in memory of GTALTER ED47ARD
FERGUSON.
