tor Butte County has not been increased since 1970, and
WHEREAS, this Board believes that their compensation
increased, however that the increase should be funded through an
increase in fiT.ing fees.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED as follows:

Legisl.ature of this state amend Governmen~ Code §§70045.8 and 70054.4
as pzovided in Exhibi~ "A" ~o this ~esoluri.on, ~rhich is attached

2. That this Board does xzot anticipate an}r increase in
pxoperty taxation as a result of these amendmen~s and,rherefore,
waive any c].aim ~~ maq have ~gains~ ~he s~ate under the legislation
popularly referred to as "SB 90".

ind~~ectly by contract the ~ublie Emp~oyees' Retire~ent Sys~em
of ~he Sta~e af Ca~ifornia. Excep~ as p"rov~ded herein, the initial
hiring ~ate for,~each posztion shall be step A, provided fur~her,
however, the judges of ~he sup~rior court may appoint any such
CO~~t repar~er at a higher ini~ia~ s~ep if in the ap~nion of the
judg~s of ~he suFeriax court an individual to be appoin~ed has such
experienc~ and qualificat~on as to entitle ~hat individual to such
high~r initial step. A step advancemen~ farm st~p A to step B may
be g~an~ed on the firs~ day o£ the ~onth folZowing ~he completion

§70045.8. Bu~~e Coun~y; campensation
Notwi~hs~anding any other provision o~ 1aw includi~~ bu~
not ~imi~ed to Sections 70040, 70041, 70042, and 70Q45, the
following provxsions shal~ be app~icab~e ~o ~he official court
repo~ters in any caun~y having a populatzon of g2,03Q and not
over 8~,20Q as det~rmin~d by ~he 1960 ~edera~ census:
(a) The regu~ar f~~~-time official co~r~ reporters sha11
perforzn ~he fol~ow~ng du~ies:
(1)' Repart al~ c~imina~ praceedings.
(2) Repor~ a~l czvil cor~mitment proceed~ngs and a~l contempt
proe~edings.
(3) Repo~t a1~ ~uven~~e p~oceedings ather than ~hose heax~~._~.
by juven~le cour~ referee ar ~raffic hearing office~.
(4) Repo~t all fa~i~y law proceedings.
(5) Report al~.civ~1 jury trials.
(6) Report a11 hearings on pe~i~ians ~or extraordina~y re~~e£,
Zncluding but not ~im~ted to p~oceedings far injunc~ions, man~ate,
prohibit~on, ce~tiorari, rev~ew, habeas corp~s, and coram nobis.
