NON-SMOKING AREAS
WHEREAS, Sections 259~.1, 259L~2, and 25943 of the Health and Safety
Code require designation of non-smoking areas in public assembly areas o£
public-owned buildings in which public business is cortducted; and
WHF~R.EAS~ tlte Health and Safety Code Sections mentioned above
provide that such areas be not less than fifty (50) percent o#' a room,
indoor chamber, or place of assembly; and
WHEREAS, designated restrzcted smoking areas are ~ffective only while
a public meeting is in progress; and
WHEREAS, this Board desires to include in areas o~ restricted s~noking
by this resol.ution, those areas which already have similar policies; and
WHEREAS, an examination of county facilities has been conducted to
eva7.uate the applicability o£ Health and Safety Code Sections 2594~-, 25942,
and 25943.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following areas be designated
as no smoking areas and be so posted:
l. Al1 public areas and meeting rooms of the Butte County Libraries.
2. All public meeting rooms of the Butte County Memorial Aa].ls.
3. Al1 gallery sections of the Superior Court, Juvenile Court,
Municipal Court, and Justice Coux•ts.
~.. All Clinic areas.
5. Chico Health Department Conference Room.
6. Any o~ther room 9.n a county building used for publa.c meetings.
7. Boax~d of Supervisors' room.
