RESOLUTION ADOPTING PROPOSED ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO WELEARE FRAUD
WHEREAS, this Board has revie~aed the Proposed Assembly Concurrent
Resolution; and
WHER~AS, the obtaining of welfare tunds to which an individuai
is not entitled has the effect of decreasing ~he amount ot money
availabLe to those really in need; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Benefit Payments does have under
consideration certain regulations which wi11 hinder, if not stop,
welfare fraud investigation and prosecution.
NO[d, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOi.VED as ~oZlows:
1. Th.at this Board respectfully requ~st that the Legislature
adopt the ~roposed ~9,ssembly Concurrent Resolution.
2. We respectfully urge that the State Department o~ Bene~it
1'ayments xeconsidex' i~s position relatzve to welfaxe fraud, and
instead of setting out regulations which wi11 inhibit tYee prosecution.
thereof, that they instead adopt regulations that will more e££ecti.vely
discourage welfare £raud.
3. That this Board direcCs that a copy of rhis Resolu~ion be
sent to the Honorable Ray 3ohnson, State Senator and to'the Honorable
Eugene Chappie and Stan Statham, A.ssemblymexz, and to such other
parties that the Board may di~ect.
