RESOLUTION RELATTVE TO COLLECTION OF CLAIMS
TN MEDTCAL ASSISTANCE, PUBLIC ASSISTANC~,
AI1B GENERAL ASSTSTANCE
WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention ot ~he
Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California,
that AB 886 has been introduced in the California Legislature; and
WHEREAS; AB 886 prohibits reasonable collection measures
which increases county costs; and
WH~REAS, rhis ~w~ill also increas~ the state costs in
collections of overpayments to recipients; and
WHEREAS, this urill impose an undue hardship on many
recipients.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County
Board of Supervisors go on record as opposing AB 886; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED ~ha~ the Clerk of the Board
transmit a copy of this Resolution to the ~Ionorable Ray Johnson.,
Senator; and the Honorable Eugene Chappie and Stan Statham,
Assemblymen, and to such other parties as this Board may direct;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLV~D that the Board of Supervisors
instruct the Legislative Advoca~e to work for the defeaC of the
bill; and
;
BE IT FURTH~R RESOLVED ~hat the C1erk o~ the 1Board
transmit copies of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors
of other California counties with a request that they pass similar
resolutions in opposition of AB 886.
