HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-117RESOLUTIp~ REQUESTING AMENDMENT OF LEGISLATION ItEGARDING COMPE~SATZOIQ FOR PRO TEMPORE COURT P.EPOR'~ERS WHEREAS, Assembly Bi~.l 1890 currently pending before the State Legislature provides for a needed salary increase for full time court reporters in the County of Butte; and WHEREAS, Assembly Bzll 1890 also makes provisions for ~he compensation of pro tempore court reporters in the various counfies; and WHEREAS, the courts of the County of Butte must compete with nearby counCies for pro tempore court reporters; an.d W#iEREAS, under the provisions of Assembly Bi11 ~890 as amended in Assembly May 24, 1977, Butte County is at a competi~ tive disadvantage because of ~~e dif~erential between pro tempare compensation offered or able Co be offered in some other counties, one of whicii is adjacent to Buete County, and that compensation specified for the County of Butte. NOW, THEItEFORE, BE TT RESOLVED as follows: 1. That this Board respectfully requests that the Legislature of the State of California, ~rithout af.fecting the aforesaid provisions relating to the salary increases for full time court reporters in the County of Butte, add subparagraph "(f)" to Government Code Section 69948 to read as follows: "In Butte County, the fee for reporting testimony and proceedings in contested cases is seven~y-five dollars ($75) a day or any frac- tional part thereof." -2- 2. That the County of Butte in this regard does hereby waive any claim it may have against the State of Cali~ornia under the legislation popuZarly designated "SB90".
