OF THE CO~dTROL TOWER AT THE CHICO AIRPORT
WHEREAS,'the Chico Airport serves not only the City of
Chi.co, but a substantial area of the Coun~y of Bu~te, as wel~ as
subs~an~ial, areas outaide of the County; and
WfiEREAS,'the Chico AirparC services ~umerous cornmercial
passenger services, as we11 as ex~ensive pzivate avia~ion; and
W~TERLAS, Che Chico Airport also sezvices ai.rcxaft used
in fire fighting, as well as servicing k3igh al~titude Federal
pro.~ects; and '
W~T~REAS, Che mix of the aforementioned acCivities on oeca-
sion do create a certain amovnt of congestion which necessitates
the use of a control tower; and
WHEREAS, traffic studies at tlie Airport indicate a~rowth
rate in use ot 10%',per year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED as ~oLl.ows:
1. That'the Board ot Supervisors, on behalf of ttr.e resi-
dents of the County of Butte, as wel.l as those traveling to the
County, respectfully request that the tower at the Chico Airport be
adequately staffed. We find ti~-at the mi~> of activities occurring at
~he Chico Airport ca11s for the use of a control tower, notwithstand-
~.ng any criteria to the contrary based upon actual landings. ~le
further find that the growth of tr.a~fic a~ the Airport at the zate
of IO% per year shall shortly meet the criteria, in any event.
