AN ORDNiANCE OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE
OF CALIFORNIA, ZONING A PORTION OF SAID
COUNTY PURSUANT TO EXISTING ORDINANCE NOS.
475 APdD 522 OF SAID COUPITY, AND At~~NDING
THE SAID ORDINANCES
The Board of Supervisors of the County o£ Butte, State of
California, under and pursuant to Ordinance No. 475 of said County,
being the Zoning Enabling Ordinance of said County as amended by
Ordinance No. 522, do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The hereinbelow described area, situate in the
County of Butte, State of California, shall be and it is hereby zoned
as an "A-3" (Agricultural) Di_stri.et, and such area shall be subject to
the restrictions and restricted uses and regulations hereinafter
specified and provided, said area so zoned being located west of the
City of Chico, California, particularly described as follo~crs:
Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of West
Sacramento Avenue and the centerline of Grape Way; thence
southerly along centerline of Grape Way and its extension to
Big Chico Creek; thence southwesterly along Big Chico Creek
to its intersection with the Sacramento River; thence northerly
along Sacramento River and the boundary 1i.ne common to Butte
County and Glenn County to its intersection with the westerly
projected centerline of West Sacramento Avenue; thence easterly
along centerline of West Sacramento Avenue to the point of
beginning:
SECTION 2, The following regulations shall apply in an "~-3"
(Agricultural) District:
2.1 Uses permitted:
1) Single Family Dwellings.
2) General farming, horticulture, commercial livestock,
poultry production, warehouse and storage.
3? Accessory buildings and uses pertinent to the
permitted uses, including agricultural processing
plants o
4} Housing facilities (including trailers) to accommodate
only agricultural employees and their families
employed by the owner or operator of the premises; and
rovided further that such housing facility shall be
considered accessory to the main building, but shall
conform to the provision pertaining to required yard
and open space for dwellings.
?_.2 The following uses subject to securing a use permit i.n each
case:
1) Golf courses and country clubs.
2} Public or quasi-public uses including churches,
firehouses, hospitals and clinics, parks and
playgrounds, schools, public utility buildings and
professional buildings.

2.3 1~Rinimum I,ot Area Required: Five {5) acres.
SECTION 3. All uses of land within the District not specifically
authorized and permitted, are prohibited.
SECTION ~. This Ordinance is for the purpose of arderly
progress and the ovmer of any property zoned hereby may at any time
petition the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Butte for re-zoning; and the Planning Commission of the
County of Butte, shall on each fifth anniversary of the date of the
adoption of this Ordinance, of its orom accoxd, review said Ordinance
to determine whether or not any land zoned hereby should be re--zoned
to permit orderly progress.
SECTION 5. Penalties for any violation of the zoning hereby
imposed within the District shall be as provided in the Zoning Enabling
Ordinance. In compliance with the provisions of the Zoning Enabling
Ordinance, this Ordinance shall from and after its effective date
become a supplement to and part of the Zoning Enabling Ordinance.
SECTION 6, This Ordinance shall be and it is hereby declared
to be in full force and effect from and after thirty {30) days after
the date of its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen (15)
days after its passage, this Ordinance shall be published once with
the names of the members voting for and against it, in the
Chico Enterprise , a newspaper published in the County of
Butte, State of Californian
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, this 13th day of Au ust ,
1963 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Alldredge, McKillop and Pryde
NOES: Supervisor Giles and Chairman Steinegger
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
