HomeMy WebLinkAbout78-148~ :' - RESOLUTIOPd CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTTON FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBM2TTING TO THE QUAZTFIED ELECTORS OF THE GRIDLEY FAR1~ LABOR CENTER IN THE"COUNTY OF BUTTE A PROPOSITION REGAR~ZNG THE CONSTRUCTION, DEVELOPMENT AND ACQUISITION OF LOL~-ZNCOME HOUSING SY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE AND ORDERING THE•CONSOLIDATION OF SUCH SPECIAL ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALZFORNIA GEN~RAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDA~', NOVEMBER 7, 1978 WHEREAS, ttce Housing Authority o~ the County of Butte desire to construct additional dwelling units within the Gridley Farm Labor Center 1.ocated in ~he unincorporated area of the County of Sutte East of the City of Gridley; and WHEREAS, under Article XXXIV of the Ca1i£orni.a Constitution, no 1ow-rent housing project may be developed, constructed or acquired by any state public body until a majority of the qualified eleceors of the city;,town, or county in which said houszn.g projecr is proposed shall approve such project by voting in favor Chereof at an election to be held for that purpose; and WHEREAS, the Housi.ng Authority of the County of Butte has requested thi.s Soard to call a special election so that the qualified electors i.n the unincorporated area of the County of Butte known as the Gra.d~.ey Farm Labor Cenrer may consider authorizing the Butte County Housing Authority to d.evelop, construct, and acquire low-rent housing ~x~. said area compris~ng not more than 100 dwelling units fo~ persons of low income to be financed in whole or in part by the ~ederal government or a state pub7.ic body and to con.soJ.idate said elec~ion with the State of California General E~.ection ta be held on '~uesday, No~rember 7, 1978; and WHEREAS, this Board has found that the unincoxporated i area of the County of Butte known as the Gridley Faxm Labor Center, more particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached to this Resolution a~d by this reference made a part hereof, is a town in Che meaning of - - -- - -..._.. ,.,..,. . _ . _ _ _ ... ~ ~ . . Article XXXIV of the California Constitution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, S~ate o~ California, as follows: 1. A special election is hereby called and the same sha11 be heard within the unincorporated area of the County of Butte known as the Gridley Farm Labor Center and described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof on Tuesday, November 7, ~978, at ' which election shall be submitted to the qualified electors in said area of the County of Butte the following measure, to wit: Sha11 the Housing Authority o~ the County af Butte develop, construct and acquixe in the Yes unincorporated area of the County of Butte known as the Gridley Farm Labor Center, 1ow- rent housing comprising not ~ore than 100 dwelling units for persons of low income to be ~inanced in whole oz in part by the No federal governmen~ or a state public body? 2. That the County C1erk is ardered and directed ~o cause the exact ~orm and wording of the measure set forth in Secrion 1 0~ th~s Resolution to appear on each baZlot and sample ballot to be ~sed at said election in the territory affected by said conso~idation. 4. That the County Clerk is further ordered to canvass or cause to be canvassed the returns of said election with respect to those votes cast on the measure set forth in Section 1 of this Resolution in the terr~tory affected by said consolidation,and to' cert~fy such canvass of votes for and against said measure to this Board. 2.
