AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF
BUTTE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, do ordain as follows;
1. Chapter 10 of the Code of Butte County, California,
entitled "Highways and Streets", is amended by adding thereto
Article III, Sections 10-20, 10-21 and 10 22, as follows:
ARTICLE III. CLOSED OR RESTRICTED USE
SECTION 10-20
AUTHORITY
The Director of Public Works of the County of Butte, may
restrict the use of, or close, any County street or highway
whenever the Director considers such closing or restriction of
use necessary;
(a) For the protection of the public.
(b} For the protection of such street or highway from
damage during storms.
(c) Duxing construction, improvement or maintenance
operations thereon.
SECTION 10-21
METHODS
When, pursuant to Section 10-20, a County street or
highway is closed or the use is restricted, the Director of
Public Works may designate the restricted use or the closing of
such County street or highway by:
(a) Erecting suitable baxriers or obstructions upon
such street or highway.

(b) Posting warnings and notices on or adjacent to said
street or highway of the condition of any such street
or highway.
(c) Posting signs for the direction of traffic upon it,
to or upon any other street or highway, or detour
open to public travels
(d) Placing warning devices on such street or highway.
(e) Assigning a flagman to warn, detour or direct traffic
on such street or highway.
SECTION 10-22
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION
Any person who willfully fails to observe any sign, marker,
warning, flagman, notice or direction, placed or given under
Section 10-21, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
2. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days
after its passage and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days
after its passage, it shall be published at least once with the
names of the Supervisors voting for or against in a local newspaper
published in the County of Butte, State of California,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, on the ~~L'H day of
October , 1963, by the following vote:
