CERTAIN PUBLIC S~RVTCE FEES
WHEREAS, ~he fees prescribed by Zaw ~or providing certain pub7ic
services such as issuance of a marriage license, issuance of a duplicate
marriage license, fi1ing a record of confidential marriage, performance of
the costs involved; and
a wedding ceremony and so far~h provided by ~he County C7erk are less than
WH£R£AS, the last increase to such public service fees range from
1905 to 1974 and has not kept paee with inflation; and
WHER~AS, the law directs that these services be performed by the
County Clerk, the sole agency responsible within the county; and
WHER~AS, these services are essential to the well being of the
c~tizens and they have a legal right to request them of the County Clerk,
NOW, THERE~ORE, BE IT RESOLUED, that the Board of Supervisors,
County of Butte, supports the passage of AB 226 introduced by Assemblyman
Chappie, which would increase certain public service fees and allow the
county to collect the pro~er revenue from which to fund these services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLUED, that copies of this resolution be forwarded
by the County Clerk to Assem6lyman Chappie, Assemblyman Statham and Senator
Johnson.
