ordered a ten percent (10%) budget reduction in the California
Department of Fish and Game for the 1979-80 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, the Governor has also requested an additional
ten percent (10'/) reduction in the Department of Fish and Game
budget for the 1980-81 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, California fishermen and_hunters pay millions of
dollars each year in license fees to support the Caiitornia Department
of Fish and Game; and
WHEREAS, such license fees may be used only for Fish and
Game programs and money not spent on such programs will simply
accumulate in the Treasury; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Fish and Game have traditionally
carried on programs and fish and wildlife management which provided
substantial recreational benefits to the people of California; and
WHEREAS, these benefits support more than two billion
dollars ~n ~rade; and
WHEREAS, the programs conducted by the Department of ~~sh
and Game may actually suffer at current funding levels because of the
continuing inflation; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bil1 981 by Kap~loff would restore the
most vitally needed progra~ns of the Aepa~tmenC of Fish and Game that
would be affeCCed by ehe budgetary reduction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of
Supervisors thar:
1. Th~s Board urges the Legislature to pass and the
Governor to sign Assembly Bill 981 and enact a 1979-80 budget
containing exactly the same provisions as Assembly Bi11 981.
