HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-172WHEREAS, California Constitution Article ~CIII A, as approved by the voters as Proposition 13 at the June 6, 1978 primary election, provides that property taxes levied on county assessed real property shall not exceed one percent (I.Ok) of its full cash va3.ue except for amounts required to meet paytaents on voter approved debt and assess- ments levied on other than an ad valorem base; and WHEREAS, ~he State Legislature has enacted Chapter 282 - Statutes 1979 to implement t~he provisions of said Articie XTTT A; and WHEREAS, Section 2237 of the Revenue and Taxation Code provides that no taxing entity other than the County shall levy an ad valorem property tax except for the amounts needed to make annual payments on general obligation bonds or other indebtedness approved by the voters prior to July 1, 1978; and WIiEREAS, said Sectzon 2237 further provides that the County shall.levy an ad valorem property tax on a11 taxable assessed va~.ue at a rate equal to four dollars ($4.00) per one hundred dollars ~$100.00) of assessed vaiue, and that ~he revenue from such ta~t levy shall be distributed ~o all of the taxing entities within the County in accord- ance with other provisions of said Chapter 282 - Statutes 1979; and WHEEtEA5, amounts needed for annual voter approved debt payments, and the respective tax rates required to raise such amounts, have been determined by the Count~r Auditor; and WI3EREA5, it is incumben~ on the Board of Supervisors to tix the tax rates for certain entities within the County,'pursuant ta Azticle 5, Division 3, Tit1e 3(Section 29100 et seq) of the Government Code, for the 1979-8Q.fiscal year; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors o~ the County of Butte, State of California, as follows: 1. That said Board does hereby £ix a tax rate of ~our dollars ($4.00) per one hunclred dollars '($J.00.00) of assessed value to be applied to the to~al taxable pxoperty included on the 1979-80 Secured Property Tax Roll as compiled by the County Assessor and the State Board of Equal.ization; 2, That the revenues derived from sa~.d tax rate and levy shali be distributed to the various taxing entities in the County, as prescribed by Chapter 282 - Statutes 1979, by the County Auditnr; and 3. That said Board does hereby fi~c various tax rates per one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed value, as hereinafter set ~orth, to be applied to the taxabl.e assessed values within the boundaries of the respective entities on the 1979-80 Secured Property Tax Ro11, as compiled by the County Assessor and the State Board of.Equaiization, to ~' RESOLUTION FIXIATG TAY RATES I1~T 7.'FiE COLTATTY OF BUTTE (Chapter 282 - Statutes 1979?
