WHEREAS, this Board has reviecaed rhe provisions of Govern-
ment Code §76026, which relates to counties of the 26nc ~lass,
which is, of course, the County of Butte; and
WtIEREAS, this Board believes that the compensation and
mileage for grand jurors and petit jurors slzould be increased to
reflect ~he change in rhe cast-of-living over the past 12 years.
NOW, TIiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
1. That this Board respectfully requests the Legislature of
the State of California amend Government Code §76026 to read as
follows:
"Tn a county of the 26th class, grand jurors in
the superior court sha11 rece~.ve twenty do~.7.ars
($20) for each day's attendance and twenty cents
($0.20) for each mile actual.ly traveled in attend-
ing court as such jurors. Such per die~cn and
mileage allowance shall be paid to grand jurors
for attendance at meetings of commit~ees appointed
by the foreman o~ the grand jury and to grand
jurors making i~r~.dividual investigations when such
inves~igations are authorized in writino by the
foreman. Trial jurors in the superior court shal].
receive ten dollars ($IO) for the first day's
attendance at court and ~ou~teen dollars ($14) for
each succeeding day's attendan.ce, together with.
thir~q cen~s ($0.30) for each mile traveied in
attending court as such jurors, one way only."
2. That copies of this resolution be sent to the Honorable
Ray Johnson, State Senator, the Honorable Stan Statham, Assemblyman,
and the Honorable Gene Chappie, Assemblyman.
