HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-239WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, on the 31st day of .TuZy, 1979, adopted and passed Resolution No. 79-159 cal].in.g for an election to be held for the purpose of determinin.g whether the area descri.bed i~n Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorpora~ed herein, shouid be reorganized, the boundaries of which are the same as those of the Paradise Fire Protection District, which would be dissolved; and WtiEREAS, an election was duly held in the unincorporated area delineated in Exhibit "A" on November 6, 1979, and the returns of said election were duly canvassed and filed by the County Clerk with tne Board of Supervisors, a11 purs~ant to laur; and WHEREAS, the majority of the votes cas~ in said electi.on were in favor of the reorganization ~which incorporates tY~.e Town of Paradise and provides for the dissolution of the Paradise Fire Prorection District on June 30, I980 and immediately dissolves Counry Service Areas No. 13, 38, 49, 64 and 65. NdW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors as follows: l. The newly incorporated territory shall be called the Town of Paradise, as set out in the resolution orderin~ a reorgax~iza- tion and calling for a special election which was adopted by the Butte County Board of Supervisors on July 31, 1979. The official canvass of the returns of the November 5, 1979 election reflects that the council members ~or the newly incorporated town shall be: William R. Taylor Warren H. Humbert Alonzo A. Plumb Wil.liam S. Holding Donna D. Gavagan 3. Tkze area which shall be incorporated, described in ~xhzbit "A." attached hereto, is a3.1 located in the County of Butte, State o£ California. 4. The Town of Paradise shall be organized as a general law city with. a city manager type of government having the following structure: a five-member city council elected at large; an appointed municipal clerk and municipal treasurer; six departments including administration, finance, attorney, community development, public works and police. Municipal fire protection sha11 be provided as determined by the City Council of the Town of Paradise. 5. The Paradise Fire Protection District shall be d~.sso].ved on June 30, 1.980 , and all of its property, assets and liabili.ties sha11 merge into the newly formed Town of Paradzse. County Service Areas No. 13, 38, 49, 64 and 65 a~e immediately dissolved. 6. The Paradise Fire Pxotection DistricC and County of Butte W~ii continue to provide services through June 30, 1980. TYcese services shail include ~he e~tended county services associated with the various County Service Areas, which are within the incorporated area.
