visit of Vernon "Lefty" Gomez, one of the all-time g~eat pitchers
in the history of organized basebal.l, elected to the Baseball Hall
of Fame, and a Friend of the Youth of America; and
WHEREAS, "Lef~y" Gomez is bein.g honored as Citizen of t~e
Year of the Gity of Oroville by the Eagles Aezie, F.O.E. 196, at
the Max Baer Heart Fund dinner to be held on Friday, Jannary 11,
198Q; and
WHEREAS, it is zecognized universal~y that behind every
good rnan is a rine woman;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT 1t~SOLVE~ that this Board wishes to
honor and pay its respects to June Gomez, wa.~e of "Lef~y" Gomez,
in recognition. of her patience and fortitude while living in ~he
shadow of an internationally known character and sports personali~y.
