WNEREAS, California Constitution Article XIII A, as approved by the voters
as Proposition 13 at the June 5, 1978 primary e~ection, provides that property taxes
levied on county ass~ssed real property shall not exceed one percent (1.0%) of its
full cash value except for amounts required to meet payments on voter approved debt
and assessments ievied on other than an ad valarem base; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has enacted statutes to implement the provisions
of said Articie XIII A; and
WHEREAS, Section 2237 of the Revenue and Taxation Code provides that no taxing
entity other than the County shall levy an ad valnrem property tax except for the
amounts needed to make annual payments on general obligation bonds or other indebtedness
approved by the voters grior to July 1, 1978; and
WHERERS, said 5ectian 2237 further provides that the County sha17 levy an ad
valorem property tax on all taxable assessed value at a rate equa] to four dollars
($4.~0) per one hundred dollars ($100.0a) of assessed value, ar~d that the revenue from
such tax levy shall be distributed to a11 of the taxing entities within the County in
accordance with prevailing statutes; and
WHEREAS, amounts needed for annual voter approved debt payments, and the
respective tax rates required to raise such amounts, have been determined by the County
puditor; and
WHEREAS, it is incumbent on the Board o~f Supervisors to fix the tax rates for
certain entities within the County, pursuant to Article 5, Division 3, Title 3(Section
29700 et seq) of the Government Code, for the 1980-81 fiscal year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, as fol"lows:
1. That said Board does hereby f~x a tax rate of four dol3ars
($4.00) per one hundred dollars ~$1p0.00} of assessed value
to be applied to the total taxable property included on the
1980-87 Secured Property Tax Roll as compiled by the County
Assessor and the State Board of Equalization;
2. That the revenues derived from said tax rate and levy shall
be distributed to the various taxing entities in the County,
as prescribed by statute, by the County Auditor; and
That said Board does hereby fix various tax rates per one
hundred dollars ($Z04.00} of assessed value, as hereinafter
set forth, to be app~ied to the taxable assessed values within
the boundaries of the respective entities on the 7:980-81
Secured Property Tax Ro~1, as compiled by the County Assessor
and the State Board of EquaZization, to raise revenues required
to meet annual payments on voter approved bonds and other
indebtedness. Revenues derived from such tiax rates and levies
sha77 be distribu~ed to the various entities pursuant to
preveiling law.
