PREFEREPdCE POINTS
WHER~AS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte
finds it to be in the znterest of the County to amend the
Parsonn.el Rules.
IQOW, THER.EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Super-
visors o£ the County of Butte hereby amends Section 6.2 of the
Persomie~. Ru1es of the County of Butte to read as follows:
§b.2. APPLZCATION FOR EY~AMINATION.
A separate application must be submitted
for each examznation. The application must h~
submitted during the an.nounced recruitment period
on a standard county application forut. The
application form must be completed in sufficien.t
detail to a1~.ow a job-related comprehensive review
and evaluation. Failure to file the application
during a recruitment geriod or to complete the
ap~lication in suff~.ci.ent detail will constitute
fai7~ure o£ the i.nitial step in the examination
process an.d the appla.cation will be placed in the
inacCive files. It ~.s the applicant's responsi-
bility to notify the Personnel D~.rector of any
change of address, na~e or other pertinent infor-
mation. AppJ.ications sha11 become void (1) year
after filing.
Veterans who have served continuously on
active duty ior 180 days or more and who have been
honorably discharged from tne United States of
Acnerica military service or is presently serving
in the Reserve or :Vational Guard, shall be granted
a five-point veterans' preference to be applied to
a passing score of an open, non-promoti~on.al. exam-
ination, where application thereof is applied for
and approved as provided kzerein. Veterans who
attained the rank of major, or its equivalent or
higher ranlc, are not eligible for veterans`
preference under Chis ru1e. To receive veterans'
preference points, each eligible veteran sha11
submit to the Personnel Direc~or during the announced
recruitment period for each specific open, non-
promotional examination a written request for
veterans' preference points and written g~oof of

elig~bility.~ After February 1, 1982, any non-
disabled veteran applying tor preference points.
under this rule shall be eligible oniy if their
discharge occurred caithin the ten years immediately
prior to the fznal filing date as shown on the
exam~nation announcement. The Personnel Director
sha~l be responsible to establish reasonable rules,
procedures and forms necessary to carry out the
provisions of this section.
