HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-045RESOLUTION TO CSAC REQUESTING LEGISLATION RELA~IVE TO RETURN ~F FED~RAL AND STATE GRANTS TO COUN~IES WHEREAS, the Count~es of this State are often £aced with offers for grants f~om various federal and state agencies; and WHEREAS, in some cases the counties wou~d have preferred no~ ~o accept tne grant because ~hey did not feel the expend~tur~ o~ t~e funds was neCessarily in t~e public interest; and WHEREAS, in the event the funds were not expended by each particuLar county, the f~n~s would then be expend~d by other counties for the same use o~ re~urned ta the f~deral o~ s~ate governm~nt for use zn ~he same program, ~esul~ing in press~re to go ahead and accept the g~an~; NOW, TH~R~FORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1. That legislation be adapted both at the ~ederal and state Ieve~ which~would specifical~y provide that in the event an agency would be entitled to a g~an~, and that agency decided not ~o accept the gran~, the funds wil~ be returned to the genera~ ~unds a~ eithe~ the federal or state agency and be used to reduce ~he debt of the federal gavernment and be used ~or tax reduction in the ~ase of the state gavernment. 2.
