HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-193RESOLUTION FIXING TAX RATES IN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE I~HEREAS, California Constitution Article XIII A, as approved by the voters as Proposition 13 at the June 6, 1978 primary election, provides that roperty taxes levied on county assessed real property sha11 not exceed one percent (7.D%~ of its full cash va7ue except for amounts required to meet payments on voter approved debt and assessments ievied on other than an ad valorem base; a~d WHEREAS, the State Legislature has enacted statutes to implement the provi.sions of said Article XIII A; and WHEREAS, 5ection 93 of the Revenue and Taxat~on Code provides that no taxing entity other than the County shall ~evy an ad valorem property tax except for the amounts needed to make annual payments on general obligati:on bonds or other indebtedness approved by the vaters prior to Ju~y 1, 1978; and WHEREAS, Sec~ions T35 and 93 of the Revenue and Taxation Code provide that the County shall levy an ad valorem property tax on all taxable va7ue at a rate equal to one dol7ar ($1.00) per one hundred dollars ($100.00) of fu77 cash vaiue, and that the revenue from such tax levy shall be distributed to all of the taxing entit~es within the County in accordance with prevailing statates; and WHEREAS, amounts needed for annual voter approved debt payments, and the respective tax rates required to raise such amounts, have be~n determined by the County Auditor; and WHEREAS, it is incumbent on the Board of Supervisors to fix the tax rates for certain entities within the County, pursuant to Article 5, Div~sion 3, T~tle 3(Section 29700 et seq) of the Government Code, for the 1981-82 fiscal year; ~OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Superv3sors of the County of Butte, S~ate of California, as follows: 7. Tha~ said Board does hereby fix a tax rate of one do7lar ($1.00) per one hundred dallars {$100.00) of full cash value to be applied to the total taxable property included on the 1981-82 Secured Property Tax Roll as compiled by the County Ass~ssor and the State Board of ~qualization; 2. That the revenues derived from said tax rate and levy shall be distributed to the various taxing entities in the County, as prescribed by.statute, by the Caunty Auditor; and 3. That said Board does hereby fix various tax rates per one hundred dollars ($100.OQ) of full cash value, as hereinafter set forth, to be applied to the taxable values within the boundaries of the respective entities on the 1987-82 Secured Property Tax Roll, as compiled by the County Assessor and the State Board of Equalization, to raise revenues required to meet annual payments on voter approved bonds and other indebtedness. Revenues derived from such tax rates and ~evies shall be distributed to the various entities pursuant to prevailing 1aw.
