HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-019WHEREAS an unanticipated application of a statutory technicality has resulted in a substantial decrease in pay, instead of an anticipated increase in pay, for the official Butte County court reporters, resulting in an inequity with the consequent possibility ot the official Butte County court reporters seeking employment elsewhere, with the further consequence that the crucial public interest of the public in the continued operation of its courts is at risk; and WHEREAS the Superior Court judges for the County of Butte have unanimously endorsed the proposed legislative change set forth below; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved thaC the Legislature of rhe State of California be urged to pass Senate Bill No. 82 as an urgency measure, insofar as said Senate Bill No. 82 would amend Government Code Section 70045.8(b) by deleting the portions lined through and adding the underlined portion, substantially as follows: ach regular full-time court reporter shall be pa at a mon~hly salary rate estab~ished according to t following salary schedule: (RANGE) (MO~TH) (ANNUAL) A $1,698.66 $20,384 B 1,802.66 21,632 C 1,872.00 22,464 D i,967.33 23,608 E 2,064.83 24,778 "Each such reporter sha receive a monthiy salaxy under the schedule corres nding to the length o£ Cime that as an official co t reporter he has been included within either direct or indirectly by contract rhe Public Employees' tirement System of the State of California. "The regular fu11-time official court reporters sha11 be entitled to the same privileges wi~h respect to retirement, vacation, sick leave, and group insurance, which either now or hereafter may be provided by ordinance to other employees of the said county."
