R~SOLUTION i]RGING PASSAG~ QF iIRGENCY
LEGISLATION PERTAINING TO STAF~'ING
QF THE CHICO MUNICIPAL COLIRT ,
WHEREAS, the staffing needs af the Chico MunaCipa]. Court
have changed substantially; and,
WHEREAS, the compensatzon of s~aff needs to be adjusted in
order to avoid inequity and risk o~ loss of key persanne~;
NOW, THERE~'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that ~he B~tte County Board
of S~pervi.sors urges the au~endmen~, as an urgeney measure, of ~he
following Government Code SeC~ions to read as follows:
"74936. Thez~e shall be one clerk of ~he court who
sl~a1.1 receive the salary specified in
ran~e No. 21.0."
"7G~937. Tt~e Clerk of the cour~ may appoint:
(a) Thr~~ deputy court clerk5 I or II.
(b) Two deputy cour~ clerks I or typi.st
clerks II.
(c} One account cl.erk or typist cle~k II.
(d) Five typis~ Clerks I or II.

"7494I. Subject to the provzs~ons af Section
72001, the campensation o~ of~icers
and attaches shall be governed as follows:
(a) The initzal hiring rate ~or ea~h
positian shall be at step A. It it is
diffiCUlr to secure qualified personnel
at such rate, or if a person of un~sual
qualifications is hired, the appo~nting
authority, wzth the approval o~ ~he Board
o~ Supervisors a~ the County of Butte, may
emp~oy suc~ person at one of the h~gher
salary steps provzded for the posi~ion.
(b) A person ~ay advance to steps B, C, D
and E upon completian af success~ve
260-day per~ods of compensared servic~
in the sa~e pasitian. A st~p advancement
shall become effect~~e in accordanCe wi.~h
p~rsonnel rules of the County of Butte.
(C) ~he salara.es of m~nzcipal Court officers
and attaches ~ay, upon recommendatzon by
the appainting authorzty and approval of
the board of supervisors, be inCreased or
decreased within the lzm~ts set forth in
Secti.on 74940 in order to pravide compensatzon
whiCh is comparable to compensatian received
by county emp~oyees of simalar qualificatzons
of Butte enacts a genera~ adjustment either
increasi~g or decreasing the salaries of
the employees of ~he Coun~y of Bu~te, such
adjust~en~ shall also apply to the salaries
of those pasztzans specifaed in Sections
7493b and 74937. Such adjustm~nt insofar
as it applies to the pos~t~ons spe~z~ied in
Sections 7493b and 74937, s~ali become
effective a~ t~e sam~ time as the ge~eral
adjustm~nt, and any chan~e in ~ompensation
made pursuant to thzs subdzvzszon sha11 be
an an interim basis and shall expire on
January 1 of the second calendar year af~er
~he cal~ndar year in which th~ change
occurs, unless ratified by the Legzsla~ure.
