RESQLtTTION ESTAB~ISHING ~'INDINGS FOR
THE NEED TO PROVInE A BIIILD~NG CODE
FOR 4WNER-B~IILT DWELLINGS IN RURAL AREAS
WHEREAS, Article 10 of Subchapter 1 of Chapter I of
'~itle 25 of the California Administrative Code provicies
regulatians for ].i.mited density owner-built rura]. dwellings; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Super~isors desires to imp7.ement
said regulations fox limited-density owner-builder rura~
dwell.zngs; and
WH~REAS, pursuant to Section 17958.2 of the Health
and Safety Code, the Baard of Supervi.sors is reqvired to make
an express finding that the appl..i~ation of such regulations
within the county is reastinabJ.y necessary because of local
conditions;
NOW, TH~R~FORE, be it resolved by the Board of
Supervisors Chat:
Th.is Baard f inds :
1. Butte ~ounty ~as a very Iow population density
and has very Iarge rural areas.
2. There is a great scarcitp af sing~.e family
dwellings in ButCe County and rents are high.
3. The County Admznzstxation wants ~a enCOUrage
families to own and occupy ~heir own homes as a basic stabilizin~
fa~tor in the community.

b. In ~eneral, single famil.y dwelZings should not
b~ required to meet standards which mig~it apply ~o publicly
occupied construction ar multi-story or mil~i-family dw~llings.
7. There is no suitable code in Butte Caunty for
mountai~ eabi.ns or recreation shelters or the like.
