RESOLEITZON COMMENDING GREEN THUMB, iNC.
WHEREAS, Green Thumb, Inc., funded under Title V af the Older American Act
throu~h the United States Department of Labor, has demonstrated the val.ue o~ aenior
workers in Butte County and to society, and in reeognition thereof is deservin~; of
special honor and highest ~ommendations; and
Wf~EREAS, an employer of law-i.ncome seniors in rura~ a~eas of Northern and
Ce~tral Calitornia sznce 1972, Green Thvmb ~as pro~ided diverse jobs rangin~; from
ener~;y conservation, pub~ic work, and crzme preventzon to empZoyment services, day
care, and transportation; and
WH~REAS, Green Thumb has se~~ved to change commonly heid stereotypes through
its allowiag the ol.de~ worker to continue ~ontrib~ting to his ot ~er community and
tapping the vast weaJ.th of experience, trainin~, ar~d knowledge of t~e older person
that is so often overl.ooked i.n our so~iety; and
WHEREAS, Green Thumb has adopted a sta~ement st~mmarizing the chan~es in
attitud~ which ~t be~.ien~s ~his countr~ mvst have in the years ahead toward older
workers, Ameri.ca's f~ture work~orce; and.
WF~EREAS, i.n additio~ to the sense of dignity anci feeling of self-worth
generated by being allowed to ~~emain in Che workforce, Green Thumb workers are
pe~forming essential services in Butte County; and
WHEREAS, the achievemen~s and advancements which Green Thvmb, Inc. has made
in this effort have been extensive, and have served to greatly enhance the ~~a1~ty
o~' Iife in Butte Caunty;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board takes great pleasure in
:~onoring and commendin~ Green Thumb, inc. on its exemplary displ.ay af service to,
axad co~cern far the il@EC15 of, senior workers in Butte Covnty society in.general,
and extent~s best wishes for contit~uad success in the €uture.
