HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-183RESOLUTIO~ OF THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVTSORS URGING TWE ENACTMENT OF LEGISLATION TO ABATE THE ALLEGED ABUS~ OF PUBLIC FU~DS PERPETRATED BY THE CALIFORPJIA STATE LEGISLATUF.E WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors Ss informed that there is an alleged abase of public funds perpetrated by the California State Legis~a- ture involv~ng a$27 mil]ion plus contingency fund for the Senate and a ~40 m~llion plus fund for the Assembly, beyond the control of auditability and accountabil~ty by ~he S~ate Controller; and 4dHEREAS, the Butte County Board of 5upervisors has viewed with alarm and amazement many of the expenditures from the Legislature`s Contingency Fund; and ' iJHEREAS, the Grand Juries and/or Taxpayers' Associations of many California counties, including Alameda, Glenn, Lassen, Los Angeles, Marin, Soiano, Siskiyou and',Bu~te, urge that legis~ation be enacted to specify acceptabie expenditures',from the Legislature's Contingency Fund and to require the State Controller to audit such expenditures. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors urges enactmen~ of such legislation as outlined above; and BE'IT FURTHER RESOLUED that copies of this Resolution be mailed to Senator Ray Johnson, Assemblyman Stan Statham, Assemblyman l~ially Herger, County Supervisors ~ssociation of Cal~fornia, and to each of the Soard of Supervisors in the State of'California.
