WHEREAS, on August 12, 1980, this Board adopted Resolution
No. 80-I75 relative to the allowance for food in the General Assistance
Program; and
WHEREAS, on March 24, 198i, this Board adopted Resolutiom No.
81-67 which reafffrmed a food allowance of $50.00 per individual; and
WHEREAS, in Resolution No. $1-67, this Board directed the
Department o~ Public Welfare of the County of Butte to conduct an
investigation to determine the facts necessary to establish standards
of aid and care for the indigent persons within the County of Butte; and
WHEREAS, this Board believes it is necessary to review and
re-establish standards of aid and care for indigent persons located
within the County of Butte; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Welfare of the County of
Butte has on this date submitted a report on the General Assistance
Program within the County of Butte, a copy of which is attached hereto
as Exhibit A and incorporated herein as set forth in full; and
Wf~ER~AS, the report and recommendations of the Department of
P~blic Welfare of the County of Butte are supported by factual data
showing the actual costs of necessary support for indigent persons
within the County of Butte; and
WHER~A,S, this Board believes that it is in the best interests
of its citizens to provide a standard of care for indigents so as to
allow them to become productive members of society; and
WHEREAS, this Boaxd is concerned about the ability of ~he
County to finance an in~xease to the amount recommended i.n the report
of the Butte County Department of P~b1ic Welfare; and
WHEREAS, this Board is cognizant of iks mandated duties to
provide for the health, safety and welfare of its citizens in addition
to providing for indigent care; and

UNDER THE GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, this Board is aware thar tihe County's revenues
from property Caxes are fixed and limited under the provisions of
Article 13A;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this Board as follows:
l. That after review of the recommendation by the -epartment
of Public Welfare of the County of Butte this Board finds the following
payment levels should be established for indigent persons within the
County of Butte:
(1) Housing $ 90.00
{2) Utilities 20.00
(3) Food 53.20
(4) Personal indidental needs -0-
(5) Transportation -0-
TOTAL GRANT $163.20
2. That the Department of Public Welfare of the County of
Butte is directed to continue to monitor required levels of generai
assistance and to report to this Board on a periodic basis its findings
and recommendations.
