BU~{"fE COUN7Y WATER COMMISSION
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte hereby establishes the Butte County Water Commission as fo~lows:
Pur ose. The purpose of the Butte Caunty Water Commission is to
provide advice to the Board of Supervisors on water matters and tn ass~st in
the development of water policSes.
Responsihiiities. The commiss~on shall monitor state and federal
legislat~on and water policy and kee~ the Board of Supervisors so informed by
way of summary reports. it shall review the concerns the water fndustry and
water users in Butte County, define prablems and suggest solu~ions to the
Board of Supervisors. The commiss9on shall act as a liaison between 1oca1
water:agencies and the Board of Supervisors. It shaTl be responsible for
collec~ing and d~sseminat~ng ~ec~nical information and for creating and
maintaining a 3ibrary of water documents which sha11 be avatlable to the
public.
Organization. The Butte County Water Commission shall consist of
seven members. The Soard of Supervisors shall appoint five members, each of
whom shall represent a§upervisoria7 district and be nominated for appointment
by the county supervisor du7y elected to represent that djstr~ct. Two
additional members shall be selected and appointed by the five members
appointed by the 8oard of Supervisors.
The terms of appointment for initial members shall expire January 1,
i98~. Thereafter, all terms of appointment sha~~ expire January 7 of each
year.
Officers. The Butte County Water Commission sha~l select its own
officers and determine rules and regulations for the election of off~cers. The
Chief Rdministrative Off~cer shall provide admjnistrative an8 secretar9al
services for the commiss~on.
Meetings. The commission shall meet as necessary. Mee~ings sfia77
be public and m~nutes shall be maintained of all meettngs.
Sunset clause. The commission wi11 be dissolved on December 37,
7986 unless extended by the Board of Supervisors
