WIiEREAS, Calffornia's past two winters have been extremely severe
and have resulted in deaths, injuries, and extensive property damage; and
WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is a function of governmen~
dependent upon leadership of the executive officers and efforts of many
dedicated career civil servants and volunteers; and
WHEREAS, under the coordination of the Governor's Office of
Emergency Services a number of Iocal, state, federal, and volunteer agencies
are attempting to inform and educa~Ce the public on storm preparedness; and
WHfREAS, by ~aking reasonab~e precautions, local res~dents can
protect themselves from loss of life and property, and reduce the effects
of winter on our energy resources and our economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESQLUED that the week of November ].3-19,
1983 is hereby proclaimed WFNTER STORM PREPAREDfVESS WEEK, and a]1 residents
are urged to "Winter-Wise Your Fami~y -- Prepare for Storms."
