RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 75TH DIAPiOND
JUBILEE ANNIVERSARY OF THE NAACP
WHEREAS, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People, founded February 12, 1909, wi71 celebrate its seventy-fifth
anniversary in 1984, with a year-long series of commemorative activities;
and,
WHEREAS, the NAACP is the oldest and only national civil rights
organization with membership in fifty states; and
4JHEREAS, the state conferences, branches, youth councils and
college chapters in each state will also participate in the diamond
jubilee celebration; and
WHEREAS, during the seventy-five year history of the NAACP the
Association has worked unremittingly within the system to achieve equal
opportunity and justice for all citizens;
Nol~J, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Butte County Board of
Supervisors officially recognizes the 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary
of the NAACP and urges all county residents to recognize the many
achievements of the PJAACP in serving as the standard bearer of justice.
