AS VENEREAL DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors
that the 13th annual program on the dangers and prevalence of venereal
diseases is being endorsed by the California Venereal Disease Advisory
Council, education, health and medical groups throughout the state, the
Butte County Health Department and concerned parent and community groups.
WHEREAS, the purpose of supporting VENEREAL DTSEASE AWARENESS MONTH
is to educate the public regarding venereal diseases, and to motivate individuals
to respond to advice based on the understanding of the clinical and epidemio-
logical features of the disease; and
WHEREAS, sexually-transmitted disease information and education serve
to overcome the distorted attitudes and myths that have contributed to the
spread of these diseases in our society and it is vital that the general public
be made be made aware of the dangers and treatment and available prevention of
these dread diseases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors, County
of Butte, State of California, does hereby proclaim April 1984 as VENEREAL
DISEASE AWARENESS MONTW and asks that the citizens of our County support
the purpose of such a program that seeks to inform and treat those who
contract these diseases.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this
loth day of March, 1984 6y the following vote;
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Fulton, Moseley, wheeler and Chairman Saraceni
