~~~~+~~~ RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING VICTIMS RIGHTS WEEK AND
TWE MONTH OF APRIL AS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
WHEREAS, there has been insufficient attention to the rights of crime
victims and witnesses in our society; and
WHEREAS, the public has an obligation to recognize the plight of crime
victims and witnesses; and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of Butte County citizens and institutions to
play positive roles in improving the services for victims of violent crime and
their families, and in restoring effectiveness to the administration of justice;
an d
WHEREAS, the hardship which crime victims and witnesses suffer may be
physical, financial, and emotional; and
WHEREAS, better reporting of crime and greater willingness of victims
and wintesses to testify are essential to the control of crime and the improvement
of justice; and
WHEREAS, the understanding by Butte County citizens of the criminal
justice system and the rights of crime victims and witnesses will help enhance
the fair and effective administration of justice; and
WHEREAS, Governor Deukmejian has declared the week of April 15
through 21, 1984, as Victims Rights Week in the State of California and the month
of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED, that this Board hereby proclaims
April 15 through 21, 1984, as "Butte County's Victims Rights Week" and the month
of April as "Child Abuse Prevention Month".
PASSED AND ADOPTED 6y the Butte County Board of Supervisors this
27th day of March, 1984, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Fulton, Moseley, Wheeler and Chairman Saraceni
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
