RESOLUTION ESTP,BLISHING THE
BUTTE COUNTS COM~IISSION ON R••GING
4JHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors has determined
a need for an advisory body that will advise them on matters affecting
senior citizens in Butte County.
N01~J, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board hereby
establishes the Butte County Commission on Rging.
Purpose. (1) To serve as an advisory body ~to the Board of
Supervisors in its decision-making on matters affecting 'the senior
citizens in Butte County; (2) to encourage, inform and motivate all
senior citizens' groups and senior citizen individuals in Butte County
by functioning as an outreach and advisory body; (3) to provide, in
close cooperation with the Area Agency on aging, Planning Services
Area III, a resource, referral and evaluatory service for problems of the
aging in Butte County.
Commission Membership. Each member of the Board of Supervisors
shall nominate one senior citizen (i.e., 50 years of age) to the Commission;
however., all members shall 6e appointed by the Board of Supervisors. In
addition, the Board of Supervisors shall appoint one of its members or the
County bJelfare Director, County Mental Health Director or Public Health
Officer.
Terms of Appointment. The Board of Supervisors member or county
department head shall serve unti'1 replaced. Other members shall normally
serve two-year terms, except for the initial terms of appointment, two
members shall serve a term of one year expiring January 1, 1986 and three
commissioners shall serve a twa-year term expiring January 1, 1987. Any
member of the Commission may be removed 6y a majority vote of the Board of
Supervisors.
Meeting Dates and Locations. Meetings of the Commission shall
be held on a specified day of each month or on the call of the chairman
and at locations designated 6y the chairman.

County Services. The Board of Supervisors sha11, if i't concludes
it has money available, provide staff services -for the Commission including
office supplies, letterheads, stamps, telephone service, secretarial
service, secretarial time, etc.
The Board of Supervisors shall provide mileage allowance to
members of the Board of Directors for travel on official business of the
Commission. An annual mileage estimate is to be submitted to the County
Board of supervisors eacFi year 6y the Commi'ssi'on.
Bylaws. The Commission shall prepare and adopt bylaws for the
conduct of its meetings.
Butte County Council of Senior Citizens. The Commission shall
assume responsibilfties which the. Board of Supervisors previously conferred
on the Butte County Council of Seniro r Citizens.

Butte, State of California, this 29th day of January, 1985, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan. McInturf, McLaughlin, Wheeler and
Chairman Fulton
