RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SENATE BILL 290
WHEREAS, the Butte County road system is in desperate need, and;
WHEREAS, the present level of road funding is sorely inadequate to meet
these needs, and;
WHEREAS, the motor fuel tax is the most equitable method of financing
road maintenance and improvement needs, and;
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 290, Foran, would, by placing an additional five
cents per gallon tax on motor fuels, provide funding to meet State, city and
county road needs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Super-
visors supports Sena~t~.e Bi11 290 and urges its passage by the Legislature and
approval by the Governor.
FURTHER, BE iT RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be directed to
Governor George Deukmejian, Senator John Foran, Senator Jim Nielsen, Assemblyman
Wally Herger and all members of the Senate Transportation Committee.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 16th
day of April 1985,` by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, McInturf, wheeler and Chairman Fulton
NOES: Supervisor McLaughlin
ABSENT: None
