RESOLUTION OF FORMATION - CITIZEN COMMISSION TO
REVIEW PROPOSAL FOR A DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Supervisors to form
an advisory commission for the purpose of assisting in evaluating a proposal
to establish a Department of Corrections.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
hereby establishes a "Citizens Commission to Review a Proposal for a
Department of Corrections" in accordance with the following terms and
conditions:
1. Purpose. The purpose of the Commission shall be to work
with Supervisor Len Fulton and Supervisor Jane Dolan in reviewing a proposal
by the Chief Administrative Officer to establish a Department of
Corrections. The Commission will be responsible for reviewing information
provided by the Chief Administrative Officer and the Sheriff-Coroner and
shall provide a report and recommendation to the Board of Supervisors
by November 1, 1985. The Commission is to determine the significance
and worth of the proposal by its own process of analysis, study and
evaluation.
2. Commission Membership. The Commission shall consist of
five members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Each county Supervisor
will be responsible for nominating one individual to serve on the
Commission.
3. Term of Appointment. Members of the Commission shall serve
until their designated tasks have been completed.
4. Staff Suport. The Chief Administrative Officer shall provide
the Commission administrative and clerical assistance.

of Butte, State of California, this 7th day of May by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, McInturf, McLaughlin, Wheeler and
Chairman Fulton
