HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-114WHEREAS, the Muscular Dystropy Association was formed to find treatments and causes for 40 devastating neuromuscular diseases, many of which are fatal and exact a heavy doll on patients, their families and society in general; and WHEREAS, neuromuscular dystrophy poses an immensely difficult scientific challenge - a challenge that researchers began to meet 30 years ago when the Muscular Dystrophy Association was founded; and WHEREAS, every citizen of the United States has the opportunity to help shorten the time it will take to achieve victory in making muscular dystrophy one of the conquests of medical science; and WHEREAS, in the State of California and at the local level, fire fighters have always been strong supporters of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and its relentless fight against muscle disease; and WHEREAS, to support the fight against these diseases, fire fighers are joining in a united crusade in fundraising activities in designating August 3, 1985 as "Fill the Boot" Day. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, State of California, that it hereby designates August 3, 1985 as "Fill the Boot" Day in Butte County in recognition of the joint venture between fire services and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
