HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-123WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte did adopt Resolution 85-26 on March 5, 1985 for the formation of a Tri-County Joint Powers Agency for an Economic Development District, pursuant to the provisions of Public Law 89-138 of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965; and WHEREAS, the said document has been subsequently changed and deleted; and WHEREAS, a non-profit corporation has been formed entitled "Tri-County Economic Development Corporation"; and WHEREAS, the TCEDC has adopted Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws for the purposes of joint participation to (a) promote economic growth by means of planning and coordinating the efforts of members and the private sector within the territorial limits of the members; (b) promote more jobs for the unemployed and underemployed residents of the members; (c) improve the social and physical environments of the members; (d) prevent unnecessary duplication of effort an behalf of members; (e) assume any additional purposes, duties and functions as may be determined by all parties to this Agreement; and WHEREAS, the Counties of Butte, Glenn, Tehama, and the cities of those counties are represented on the Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte desires to cooperate with the Tri-County EDC, for the purpose of promoting the economic development of the entire area of the Economic Development District; and -z- WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors deems it to be in the best interest of said County and its inhabitants that said county appoint a representative(s) to the non-profit Tri-County EDC. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte that the county supports the purpose of the newly created multi-county non-profit corporation to foster economic development in the Counties of Butte, Glenn and Tehama, State of California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Board of Supervisors will serve as a director of the non-profit corporation.
