RESOLUTION OF THE BUTTE COUNTY-BOARD •OF~SUPERY~ISORS
STING LEGISLATION-CREATING-A-~MUNICiPAL~COURT~IN~~OROVILLE
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors requested that Judicial
Council, in accordance with Government Code §77x42, perform a study
and review of Butte County Court System; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors, .having received a report
from Judicial Council recommending the consolidation of the existing
courts of the county into two Municipal Courts; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors appointed the Lower Court
Task Farce to examine x17 options available to the county for lower
court services; and
WHEREAS, the Lower Court Task Force has submitted
recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for the organization of
the lower courts in Butte County; and
WHEREAS, the Lower Court Task Force has recommended the
establishment of a South County Municipal Court; and
WHEREAS, the Lower Court Task Force has recommended that
the South County t~iunicipal Court be headquartered in Oroviile with
branch operations in Gridley.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board
of Supervisors that:
. The Report of the Lower Court Task Force is adopted as
the policy of the Board of Supervisors; and
Legislation is requested creating the South County
Municipal Court with one Municipal Judgeship.
PASSED AND ADAPTED this 20th .day of August, 1985,
by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, McInturf, McLaughlin, Wheeler and
Chairman Fulton
