RESOLUTION DECLARING NATIONAL 4-H WEEK
WHEREAS, the 4-H Program, since its beginning, has contributed much to
the health and welfare of the nation and has provided opportunities in the areas
of leadership, citizenship and personal development far young Americans, rural
and urban, from every cultural, economic and social background; and
WHEREAS, the 4-H Program opens the door to the lifetime of personal growth
through educational projects and community efforts and provides guidance and
direction to young people enabling them to become productive citizens and leaders
of our Nation; and
WHEREAS, the 4-H Program promotes international understanding through
cultural exchange programs and cross-cultural educational projects with countries
round the world; and
WHEREAS, the 4-H Program fosters pride in accomplishment and family
togetherness which is the strength of our society; and
WHEREAS, the volunteer leaders demonstrate their commitment to
strengthening American families and community by teaching skills to others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
proclaims October 6-12, 1985 as "NATIONAL 4-N WEEK" in recognition of the fine
achievements of 4-H members and their families, and to acknowledge the contributions
of more than 200 Butte County adult 4-H leaders who volunteer much time and effort
to this program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte, State
of California, this 17th day of September, 1985, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, McInturf, McLaugh1in, Wheeler and Chairman Fulton
