RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING JAMES P. GILPATRICK
WHEREAS, James P. Gilpatrick has been the Fire Chief of the Town of
Paradise since the town was first incorporated in 1979; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gilpatrick has been with the fire service since the early
1950's, including four and one-half years in the military fire service in Japan;
and
WHEREAS, Chief Gilpatrick first joined the Paradise Fire Department as
a firefighter in 1957, was promoted to Lieutenant in 1958, Captain in 1960 and
Assistant Chief in 1979, and
WHERAS, Chief Gilpatrick developed the first Paradise Fire Department
Training Manual in 1957, became one of the first state fire training certified
instructors in the early sixties, and ane of Paradise's first two emergency medical
technicians in the 1970's; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gilpatrick was instrumental in developing the fire science
program at $utte Community College even prior to the Durham Campus era; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gilpatrick has consistently assisted and cooperated with
the Butte County Fire Department during emergency activities; and
WHEREAS, Chief Gilpatrick retired from the Paradise Fire Department
December 31, 1985.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own 6eha1f, and
on the behalf of the citizens of the County of Butte and the Butte County Fire
Department, hereby commends Chief James P. Gilpatrick for his unselfish devotion
and dedication of duty to the fire service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of December, 1985 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, McInturf, McLaughlin, Wheeler and Chairman Fulton
