RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MARCH 1986
AS MENTAL RETARDATION MDNTH
l+lHEREAS, mental retardation is a problem which today affects six
million individuals and their familes across America; and
WHEREAS, the most effective weapons for prevention and alleviation
of this serious problem are public knowledge and understanding; and
WHEREAS, the potential for citizens with mental retardation to function
more independently and productively must be fostered; and
WHEREAS, during the month of March, 1,600 state and local units of
the Association for Retarded Citizens of the United States are carrying on
educational and fundraising campaigns.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors hereby proclaims the month of March 1986 as Mental Retardation
Month in this county and urges that citizens of Butte County give full support
to this effort to overcame mental retardation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte,
this 4th day of March, 1986, by the following vote:
