PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE DEDICATION AND
GRAND OPENING OF CHICO-SAN PLANT TN GRIDLEY
WHEREAS, consumers often benefit when small, regional companies
producing popular products are purchased by larger companies with specialized
management and distribution expertise to make the products available
nationally; and
WHEREAS, H. J. Heinz Company desired to expand the rice cake
manufacturing plant of Chico-San to meet the demands of America; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gridley saw the opgortunities of assisting
Chico-San/H. J. Heinz Company in expansion plans; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gridley, Butte County Economic Development
Corporation, and the California Department of Commerce worked in concert to
secure grant applications to assist in this undertaking; and
WHEREAS, through the cooperative efforts of governmental and quasi-
governmental agencies in California, Chico-San was able to achieve its goal of
expansion in a short period of time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors, State of California, recognizes the cooperative efforts and
achievements by private enterprise, government ,and quasi-governmental
agencies.
BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board of Supervisors recognizes the
grand opening of the Chico-San plan in Gridley August 22, 1986 and wish them
the very best in their future endeavors and in the betterment of the economy.

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of August, 1986, by the Board of
Supervisors, County of Butte, by the following vote:
AYES; Supervisors Dolan, Fulton and McInturf

ABSENT: Supervisor Wheeler and Chairman McLaughlin
