a~ ~ i ©~~ ~~ ~ RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 4.1 TO THE BUTTE COUNTY PERSONNEL RULES WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte has established an affirmative action policy to insure non°discriminatior~ in the County's hiring procedure and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has been informed by the State Department of Fair Employment and Housing that the affirmative action policy statement does not include all of the protected categories now required by state laws. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte hereby amend Section 4.1 of the Butte County Resolution 76-136A to read as follows: 4_1 Purpose Butte County supports the concept of Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity in the public service as consistent with merit system principles. The County will consider all applicants and employees on the basis of qualifications and potential, without regard to color, race, ancestry, national origin, politics, religion, age (over 40), sex, marital status, handicap or cancer related medical condition. Acceptance of these principles does not end with the prohibition of discriminatory practices. The County establishes as its goal the development of a practical plan for specific steps to be taken to achieve and maintain equal opportunity in County employment. This plan includes positive efforts in recruitment, examination, selection, promotion, pay, training and appeal procedures to insure that members of protected groups are provided opportunity consistent with merit principles to achieve positions in County employment and promotional opportunities at all job classification levels.
